With 1.4 million members, the National Honor Society is one of the oldest, largest, and most widely recognized co-curricular student organizations in American high schools. The NHS offers support for college admission and financial aid to members. Since 1946, the NHS program has awarded 16,000-plus scholarships totaling more than $13 million to seniors who best reflect the values of NHS. The society also helps members to develop leadership skills while also emphasizing the importance of community service.
