Message From The Superintendent
Dear Warrensburg Central School District Community,
Our students have taken on challenges both inside and outside the classroom this school year, and I am happy to share their accomplishments with you. In addition, I would like to provide an update on the progress we have made with our Long-Range Plan, which highlights our district’s goals in the areas of: academics, wellness, character, and community engagement.
Academics
Our academic work is tied to our commitment to improve attendance. Research reveals that higher absenteeism is linked to struggles with reading. Reading is essential to all learning, it is crucial for students to build a solid literary foundation early. Our District Committees are conducting an audit of our ELA curriculum and these results will help identify areas for growth and optimize interventions.
Wellness
Thanks to our partnership with Glens Falls Hospital, we have enhanced our P.E. and health programs with professional demos, lessons, and an archery unit. We have expanded fitness room hours to provide more opportunities for physical health and wellness.
Character
This year, we partnered with the Positivity Project, enabling teachers to seamlessly add character development into the PreK-6 curriculum and seventh-grade seminar. At the Jr/Sr High School, the Positivity Project has also influenced the adoption of restorative practices, helping to address behavior with thoughtful, long-term solutions.
Community Engagement
Warrensburg CSD is now using ParentSquare for school-to-home communications. This has strengthened communication between school and home while streamlining internal messaging. Meanwhile, our re-established PTSA is actively hosting events to deepen community connections. Finally, construction on our capital project begins this spring, bringing significant improvements to our science, arts, family, and consumer science, and CTE/tech departments. We look forward to sharing updates and photos of our progress with the community as the work unfolds. Be sure to visit our website for the latest news and developments.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at langworthya@wcsd.org or 518-623-2861, ext. 224.
Sincerely,
Amy Langworthy
Superintendent of Schools
