“Raise a Cup” to Warrensburg High School Drama Club!

Warrensburg High School Drama Club has been nominated for Outstanding Musical in Tier C for the High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA)! Their commitment and hard work on the show-stopping performance of "Hadestown: Teen Edition" will be recognized at Proctors Theatre on May 16. This celebration mirrors the prestige of the Tony Awards, shining a spotlight on the dedication, artistry, and passion of student performers and crews across the Capital Region.
“It's my first year participating in the HSMTAs and to be nominated for a big award is incredible,” said 7-12 Vocal Music Teacher Kathryn Ashe. “For our students to get an opportunity to perform on stage at Proctor's and to work with Apollo Levine one on one is the icing on the cake.”
Mrs. Ashe’s sentiments were echoed throughout the cast. The excitement for such an opportunity is infectious, and the anticipation leading up to the event is building.
“Even though the show ending feels bittersweet, I’m ecstatic that we get to perform again at Proctors,” said Avery Baldwin, who played Eurydice in this year's production. “This experience reminded me how much I love performing, and I can’t wait to be back on stage next year.”
Mrs. Ashe is beyond proud of the entire cast and crew. “The hard work, dedication, and stamina the students showed deserves praise and accolade,” she said.
But it’s not just the hard work of the students that made this nomination happen. Cast members were eager to give Mrs. Ashe her flowers, too.
“Mrs. Ashe has really been a big anchor for this group,” said Samantha Monroe, who played the role of Persephone. “I am so grateful for her support in our group, without it we wouldn't have come this far.”
The High School Musical Theatre Awards will take place at Proctors Theatre Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m., complete with a red-carpet celebration of outstanding achievements both on stage and behind the scenes. To purchase your tickets, visit this link.
